Wedding Trends To Watch In 2018

Homewood Park’s dedicated wedding coordinator Michaela Crouch, shares her wedding wisdom and gives you the inside information on what to expect from any Bath wedding nuptials taking place in 2018.

From 2017 trends…

2017 saw the increasing popularity of watercolour; pinks and rose gold during Summer and sea hues of blues, greens and earth tones for the colder months. Mix in some classic elegance in the form of the English countryside, nature and geometric or clean designs and you have 2017 summed up. Less is more but not when it comes to wedding florals – floral arrangements of table garlands, overhead centrepieces and arches are visually everywhere in bridal marketing.

To 2018 predictions…

I think 2018 will see a trend in intimate weddings with more focus on food and drink. Think family style wedding breakfasts or award-winning four or five-course menus with a casual evening selection and late night snacks. Cocktails are always popular but champagne saucers are back and mixologist cocktails are a must for the modern couple and their drink reception. Grey and marble tones are going to be all the rage as we move on from watercolour – I think this aesthetic will stick around well into 2019!

But never forget…

There will always be trends that come and go. I think it’s important to go with your current style and loves as it’s about you as a couple. The main advice I would give would be not to rush the planning of your wedding. Most couples give themselves 18 months to prepare and things will come and go in that time. If you start buying items straight away, you may find yourself 12 months down the line wishing you had held off as you’ve now been inspired by something else. If you purchase too soon or on a whim because you have found a bargain, it stops being a bargain when you regret the purchase and end up buying something else or having to stick with what you bought.
