Things to do in Bath this Summer

The beautiful city of Bath is renowned for its restorative wonders, being the home of Jane Austen and its many indulgent spas. Sure, you could try to imagine the elegance of this celebrity city by reading Pride and Prejudice in your tub, but as Bath has a lot more history and events which you must experience in person! The team here at our gorgeous Bath Hotel have put together a plentiful parade of things to do in Bath this Summer and here are a few of them…

Roman Baths by Candlelight

On a torchlit Summer evening, where fire meets water, experience the Roman Baths and dine in the presence of a world before. Wander along the ancient stones and explore the great baths by the flickering of starlight and fire. Travel back in time and see the Romans in a new light. With its streaming waters and Roman artefacts, this is an unforgettably unique experience. Purchase a special torchlit ticket including a three-course dinner with coffee or tea at the Roman Baths Kitchen.

Jane Austen Festival

This Summer, 8th-17th September, Bath will mark its 17th year holding the longest running Jane Austen Festival in the world with over 3500 people taking part over the course of ten days. With thousands of visitors from all over the world, the Jane Austen Festival brings together the very young and the young at heart. All of which participate in the famous Grand Regency Costumed Promenade through the city of Bath and its stunning Regency Costumed Masked Ball in the historic Pump Rooms and Roman Baths.

The Royal Crescent 250

2017 marks 250 years since the first foundation stone was laid on the Royal Crescent. Today, the Royal Crescent has become a world-renowned icon and its impressive representations of Georgian architectural innovation is the heart of this beautiful city, and not surprisingly, one of the reasons why Bath was awarded UNESCO World Heritage status in 1987. To celebrate The Royal Crescent 250, there will be events throughout the year. And this Summer is bringing you a right royal treat:

The inaugural Hope Ball on the Crescent’s private lawns is a gorgeous gala evening to raise funds for the RUH Cancer Care Campaign. With an exquisite three course menu married with sommelier selected wines, a Big Band swing orchestra and a chance to mingle with some of Bath’s finest artists who will be displaying an astonishing art collection for auction, the night of 17th June promises to be the pinnacle of the 250 year anniversary celebrations of the Royal Crescent.

For those who are unable to purchase one of the 250 tickets available, there is a more summery celebration. On the 29th July, everyone is invited to bring their picnic blankets and hampers to the lower lawn of the Royal Crescent and enjoy the view. Whilst you lay out your summer spread, The Natural Theatre Company will be laying on performances and entertaining visitors.
