Jane Austen Festival 2016
9th-18th September 2016
As summer winds down, you might be feeling a twinge of autumn blues. Well don’t get too upset, the summer fun isn’t over yet! The Jane Austen Festival returns to Bath for its 15th and best year yet! Based out of the Jane Austen Centre on Gay Street, this year’s festivities promise to be bigger and better than ever! It’s the perfect provision for a day of fun in Bath if you’re staying at one of the best boutique hotels Bath has to offer. Just 20 minutes from Homewood, and with so many fantastic events happening, you’d be mad to miss it!
There’s an awful lot going on at the festival this year, so we’ve put together a little shortlist of our favourites…
Grand Regency Costumed Parade 11am, Saturday 10th September.
The opening event of the festival; the parade consists of over 500 participants in full Regency costume marching through the streets of Bath! It truly is a sight to behold, not one to miss.
The ‘Middleton’ Country Ball 7pm, Saturday 10th September.
An informal night of Regency dancing- no dance experience necessary! Costume is not compulsory, but strongly encouraged…
Bath Ghost Tour 9pm, Sunday 11th September.
For something a little spookier, why not get involved in the Ghost Tour of Bath? The tour includes creepy pit stops at haunted pubs, execution areas, old hospitals, theatres and even a duelling field… This should get you in the mood for ‘A Homewood Horror Story’ at our hotel in Bath this Halloween.
Pride & Prejudice: The Musical 2pm and 8pm, Wednesday 14th September.
If you’d rather a belting musical number than being scared stuff, then this is the event for you! With amazing costumes and fantastic original music, you won’t be disappointed by this performance from Tin Roof Productions.
Regency Costumed Masked Ball 7pm, Friday 16th September.
Another chance to get dressed up! The Masked Ball is a spectacle to behold and held at the beautiful Roman Baths. A truly magical event.
If all of this has got your sensibilities tingling, make sure to book yourself into one of the best luxury hotels Bath has to offer so that you can experience the festival in true Regency style! Not only that, but Homewood are getting in on the theatrical action too. If, after the Jane Austen Festival has come to end, you find yourself pining for the eccentricity and excitement of masked balls and ghost tours, fear not! Join us on 30th October for ‘A Homewood Horror Story’, an exciting murder mystery evening complete with a bespoke four course dinner created by and prepared by our award winning chef. Whether it’s Pride and Prejudice or Poirot you feel like channelling, book here or call Homewood on 01225 809567 to kick-start your autumn fun today!
